ODOT and OSU Partner to Open Transportation Conference

(COLUMBUS) The 2003 Ohio Transportation Engineering Conference (OTEC), one of the largest transportation conferences in the nation, opened today at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The annual two-day event brings together academia, government and the transportation industry to discuss the latest in transportation technologies and trends.

According to Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Director Gordon Proctor, OTEC 2003 focuses on keeping transportation safe and reliable in todays economy. "If Ohios economy is to rebound and reach new heights, we must have a modern system of roads capable of moving people and goods safely and efficiently," Proctor said.

The event features technical sessions, an exhibitors expo, and two speakers: State Representative Stephen Buehrer and Ken Schmidt, former communications director for Harley-Davidson Motor Company.
