ODOT: Take it Slow in the Cone Zone this Holiday Weekend

COLUMBUS (September 3, 2009) – While Labor Day often signals the unofficial end of summer, the Ohio Department of Transportation’s (ODOT’s) historic construction season will continue well into the fall. So ODOT reminds drivers to be watchful and knowledgeable as they venture out this holiday weekend.

Last Labor Day holiday weekend saw a total of 1,933 collisions, from Friday evening through the end of Labor Day. There were 927 injuries caused in those crashes, and a total of 18 fatalities.

Although motorcycles were involved in only 111 of the reported collisions, motorcycle-related crashes represented seven out of the 18 reported fatalities (39 percent).

ODOT reminds motorists to Take it Slow in the Cone Zone.   Here’s a comprehensive list of major highway construction projects in the state.
