Independence Day Traffic Update
Page Content ODOT: Make Orange a part of your Red, White and Blue
COLUMBUS (June 30, 2009) – This summer, more Ohioans are expected to spend their vacations closer to home, and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) wants safety to be a part of their highway travels within the state, especially during this Independence Day weekend.
During the four-day July 4th weekend of 2008, there were 1,912 crashes, including 15 collisions resulting in 15 fatalities, and another 548 crashes resulting in injuries. Motorists on their way to popular local destinations can encounter crowded roadways and highway construction sites which can mean detours and delays.
So, even if your destination is closer to home this year, it pays to know before you go: ODOT’s premiere website, www.BuckeyeTraffic.org, offers up-to-the-minute information on work zone locations, traffic congestion alerts, road closures, weather conditions, and Highway Patrol accident updates; all available 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
Here’s a comprehensive list of major highway construction projects in the state.
