Short-term Closures this Sunday
(Columbus OH) – Beginning this Sunday at 6 a.m., Interstate 670 east will be closed between I-70 and State Route 315 to prepare for the first phase of construction for the Columbus Crossroads Project. In order to begin heavy highway construction on I-71/670, a small segment of Interstate 670 east will be re-routed. To prepare for that new traffic configuration, which will happen next month, crews will need to make pavement improvements now to I-670 east.
Along with the I-670 east closure between I-70 and SR 315, the following ramps will also be closed on Sunday:
- US 33 to 670 east
- Grandview Avenue to I-670 east
- SR 315 to 670 east
By 6 p.m. Sunday night, all ramps will be open but traffic patterns will be different. There will be two through-lanes for I-670 east traffic and an exit only lane for SR 315 north. Drivers will have to pay close attention if they are in that exit only lane for SR 315 because they will have to exit and can not access I-670 east.
This year marks the start of a $200 million investment to improve safety, connectivity and reduce congestion in the I-71/670 corridor.
