ADVANCE NOTIFICATION- 3 Ramps Closing in One Week


(Columbus OH) –Beginning at 8 p.m., Monday, October 24, the following ramps will be closed as part of the 71/670 Columbus Crossroads Project.

 

- Entrance Ramp from Broad Street to 71 north and 670 West.

a. Duration: 2013

b. Detour: Broad Street west to 4th, north to 670 east to 71 north

c. Reason: To ensure there are two thru lanes of traffic during construction and adequate room for the contractor to work. Once the first project is complete, there will be three lanes of traffic in both directions on 71.

- Exit Ramp from 71 north to 670 west

a. Duration: November 2012

b. Detour: 70 west to 315 north

c. Reason: Begin construction of the crossovers which will allow traffic to be rerouted on 670 east. Crossing over traffic allows crews to begin work sooner on new bridges and an additional lane for 670 east traffic.

- Entrance Ramp from Jack Gibbs Boulevard to 670 west

a. Duration: November 2012

b. Detour: Cleveland Avenue south to Mount Vernon Avenue, west to 4th Street, north to 670 west. Another detour is Cleveland Avenue north to to 5th Avenue to 670 west.

c. Reason: Begin construction of the crossovers which will allow traffic to be rerouted on 670 east. Crossing over traffic allows crews to begin work sooner on new bridges and an additional lane for 670 east traffic.

This year marks the start of ODOT’s $200 million investment to improve safety, connectivity and reduce congestion in the I-71/670 corridor. There will be two thru lanes maintained in both directions on 71 and 670, but motorists are reminded to allow extra time for their commute and/or seek alternate modes of transportation during the three year construction project.
