Columbus North Side Fix
Second Verse Same as the First
First Phase Complete; Bring on Phase Two
(Columbus OH) – Beginning this weekend, weather permitting, crews working on the I-71/670 project will move I-670 east back to its original configuration and re-open several ramps, including the exit from I-670 west to Third and High Street.
CAUTION: Motorists should not expect smooth sailing especially during peak hours. When the Third and High Street ramp opens, it is likely to be just as congested as before construction. That’s because work is not complete. The project still has to construct new bridges and travel lanes that will ease that congestion on I-670.
WELCOME TO PHASE 2 Construction on the Columbus Crossroads Project.
It was almost a year ago to the day, crews spent the entire weekend, reconfiguring travel lanes and closing ramps so that by Monday morning, the new traffic pattern was ready.
That’s what will happen this weekend beginning Friday night November 2.
At 8 p.m., the following ramps will close:
·         Grandview Ave. to I-670 East
·         Neil Ave. to I-670 East
·         4th St. to I-670 East
·         Convention Center Dr. to I-670 East
At 9 p.m., the following ramps will close:
·         I-70 east to I-670 east on the west side (NOTE: One lane will be opened to get to SR 315 north so Buckeye Fans can get to the Shoe for the Illinois game on Saturday)
·         US 33/Dublin Rd. to I-670 East
·         SR 315 North and South to I-670 East
At 10 p.m., I-71 South to I-670 West will be reduced to one lane.
At 11 p.m., I-670 west will be reduced to one lane from I-71 to the High St. cap.
*Note: Trying to get to the airport this weekend?  From, I-71 north follow the detour to Leonard Ave. since I-71 north to I-670 east is still closed. Police officers will be on Leonard Ave. to direct you to I-670 east.  If you are on I-71 south, the exit to I-670 east is open.
