 Current Restrictions

 
I-90 West
I-90 west is restricted to two lanes just west of the I-77 exit.  I-90 east is no longer restricted.
 
  
 

 Permanent & Long-Term Closures

 
Ontario Street Ramp to I-90 West/I-71 South Closed
Through the summer of 2013, the Ontario Street ramp to I-90 west/I-71 south is closed.  Use alternate routes to reach I-90 west/I-71 south including E 9th and E 14th Streets.  Motorists may also continue straight through the Carnegie/Ontario Intersection, pass under I-90 and use Broadway to access I-490 west to I-90 west/I-71 south; or use Orange Avenue to access I-77 south to I-490 west to I-90 west/I-71 south.  When the ramp reopens this summer, access will ONLY be to I-90 west.  Motorists will NOT be able to access I-71 south until the new bridge opens in the fall.     
 
E 14th Street Ramp to  I-77 South Closed
The E 14th Street ramp to I-77 south is closed. Motorists are detoured via E 14th to Orange Avenue. 
 
 
E 21st Street Ramp to I-77 South Closed
The E 21st Street ramp to I-77 southbound is closed.  Motorists are detoured via Carnegie Ave. to E 14th Street or E 22nd Street where motorists may enter Orange Avenue and continue on to I-77 southbound.    
 
I-90 West Exit to Abbey Avenue Closed
The I-90 west exit ramp to Abbey Avenue is closed through the fall of 2013. The W 14th Street exit remains OPEN.  Motorists may detour via W 14th Street, left on Fairfield, left on W 11th and left on Abbey.  Click here for a map of the area and detour.  
 
Commercial Road Closed
Commercial Road is closed between Central Viaduct Way (at Carnegie) and Canal Road until 2013, when it will eventually reopen on a new alignment.  Access to the industrial "Flats" is maintained via the NEW E 9th Street Extension.

 

 
 

 Upcoming Closures & Restrictions

 
"Opt for the Alternate!" Beginning Fall of 2013
During the fall of 2013, crews will move ALL I-90 traffic on to the new westbound Innerbelt Bridge.  I-90 will be maintained with two, thru lanes in each direction as well as a dedicated entrance ramp from E 9th Street to I-90 west and a dedicated entrance ramp from Ontario Street to I-90 west.  Numerous traffic changes will take place, so motorists are advised to "Opt for the Alternate!" and use I-490 and I-77 where access to all downtown Cleveland exits will be maintained!  Click here for a printable copy of the map below.

In Cleveland's Tremont Neighborhood:
In Tremont, The W 14th Street on-ramp to I-90 east will be closed.  Use the detours below to access all your favorite downtown and east side locations!  Remember: Getting to Tremont will NOT change, but use one of these alternates to plan your route out of the neighborhood!  Click here for a printable copy of the map below.
