2. Sampling and/or Inspection Requirements:

Certified Plant Sampled and Tested Material:

Sampling is not be required. Material is tested and accepted under certification program S 1074. The Certified Supplier list is on the OMM website at http://www.dot.state.oh.us/Divisions/ConstructionMgt/Materials/Pages/default.aspx. Materials from non-certified suppliers will not be accepted.

Inspect drain tile upon delivery to the project for dimension, condition and defect. Dimensions shall comply with the Table Section 4. A TE-24 Shipping Notice must be received with the material. If the material fulfills the requirements it may be used immediately. (Field)

If the material does not fulfill the requirements, it shall be rejected. Send a copy of the TE-24 to the Det and notify OMM, Concrete Section. Reject defective tiles as described below:

Drain tile, when placed in a vertical position, should not give a metallic ring when struck with a light hammer.

Cracks should not extend through the wall of the tile nor be longer than ½-inch in length.

Outside surface irregularities that do not affect the tile strength shall not be considered reason for rejection of the tile.

3. Method of Test:

ASTM C 497, three-edge bearing strength tests shall be made with hard rubber blocks or wood strips with plaster of Paris bedding fillets.
