Traffic Advisory
Columbus Crossroads Ready for First Major Phase of Construction

(Columbus OH) – This weekend, crews will be working again in order to begin the first major phase of construction on I-71/670, the first Columbus Crossroads Project. For motorists, this means plan ahead, allow for extra time, and consider alternate routes before you get behind the wheel Monday morning.

Friday night at 8 p.m.:  The ramp from Neil Avenue to 670 east and the ramp from 670 east to 3rd and 4th will be closed for restriping and concrete barrier installation. The right lane of 670 east near Neil Avenue will also be closed.

Saturday morning @ 5 a.m.: The re-route from Neil Avenue to 670 east will be in place.
Q: What re-route?
A: Accesssing 670 east from Neil, you will exit at 4th Street to Convention Center Drive to 670 east. There will be a new, temporary traffic signal at Goodale and Fourth. Once on Convention Center Drive, you will exit to the left to access 670 east.
Q: Why do I have to do this?
A: Because of a new traffic configuration on 670 east that will allow construction on this project to wrap up sooner.

By Saturday morning, drivers on 670 east will not be able to exit at 4th Street, only 3rd Street, and then follow the posted detour.

Sunday at 6 a.m.: All lanes of 670 east will close between I-70 and 4th Street to prepare for a new traffic pattern for 670 east,  called a crossover. Two lanes of 670 east will literally cross over near the High Street Cap, and travel for less than a mile on the westbound side. Concrete barrier will separate the two lanes of 670 east and west bound traffic. Just past Cleveland Avenue, 670 east will cross back over .
The following ramps will also be closed Sunday at 6 a.m.:
  • 70 east to 670 east- Detour 70 east to 71 north to 670 east,
  • 315 north to 670 east- Detour 71north/70 east to 71 north to 670 east,
  • 315 south to 670 east- Detour 315 south to 70 east to 71 north to 670 east,
  • Grandview Avenue to 670 east,
  • US 33 to 670 east

Sunday @ 6 p.m. All ramps open and two lanes of 670 east maintained. Crossover in place for 670 east from High Street to just beyond Cleveland Avenue.
