I-71 Reduced to Two Lanes Tonight; Other Overnight Closures
New signs to be installed

(Columbus OH) – The signs you see to the right will be installed overnight tonight as part of the I-71/670 Columbus Crossroads Project. In order to place these advance warning signs, I-71 south between 17th and 5th Avenues will be reduced to two lanes at 9 p.m. and one lane at 11 p.m. All lanes on I-71 south will be open by 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.
To prepare for the first phase of construction, the following ramps will also be restricted or closed overnight:
- 4th Street entrance ramp to 670 east- restricted to one lane from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday
- Convention Center Drive to 670 east- closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday.
This year marks the start of ODOT’s $200 million investment to improve safety, connectivity and reduce congestion in I-71/670 corridor. There will be two thru lanes maintained in both directions on 71 and 670, but motorists are reminded to allow extra time for their commute and/or seek alternate modes of transportation during the three year construction project.
