Interstate 90 Twin Bridge Replacement, Lake County
The I-90 twin bridges over the Grand River were built in 1960. The 1960 bridges are under-deck Warren Truss type bridges, similar to the I-35W Bridge which failed in Minnesota in August 2007. Each structure is comprised of five spans totaling approximately 864 feet. The 1960 bridges stand about 150 feet over the Grand River making them some of the tallest in District 12 and certainly in Lake County. The bridges are currently being rebuilt as part of a $25.5 million replacement project.
