State Route 2 Modernization & Lane Addition, Lake County

State Route 2 is the main artery through Northeast Ohio’s Lake County.  Because of the direct access to jobs, entertainment, restaurants and more, Lake County residents and businesses alike utilize State Route 2 over neighboring Interstate 90.  The State Route 2 Corridor was originally built during the 1960’s and designed for traffic volumes around 30,000 vehicles each day.  Since that time, traffic volumes have more than doubled in the region.  This five-phase modernization plan is the first major upgrade to the roadway since that time.  The Lake 2 Corridor Modernization Plan and ODOT’s nearly $181 million investment will address substandard geometrics, noise and drainage issues as well as increase capacity in the region.  This plan will modernize State Route 2 with a 35 year pavement design that will not require major maintenance for over two decades.
