The Ohio Department of Transportation oversees building and maintaining the nation’s 5th largest interstate system and the 2nd largest number of bridges. We take pride in providing safe and efficient roadways for the people of Ohio and to the people traveling within our great state.The Department has Central Office in Columbus, 12 regional District Offices, and facilities in all 88 of Ohio's counties.

  • Seasonal Program
    CURRENTLY HIRING: TEMPORARY, unclassified appointments not to exceed 1,000 hours. Click here for more information regarding specific job duties and statewide opportunities as a Seasonal Highway Technician 1.
  • Automotive Mechanics
    Having skilled workers capable of repairing and maintaining ODOT's fleet of cars, truck and other vehicles is important to keep the department rolling.
  • Highway Technicians
    The backbone of ODOT... we frequently have openings for workers to perform our crucial highway maintenance, snow & ice control & construction inspection duties.
  • Engineers-In-Training
    This program provides entry-level engineers a thorough introduction to the department’s core engineering disciplines.

Our Progressive Partnerships & Initiatives

The Second Chance Apprentice Program- ODOT partners with the Ohio Correctionsal Institutions and focuses on individuals due to be released, and provide them with opportunities for a pathway to full-time stable employment with ODOT.

Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities- Empowering Ohioans with disabilities through employment, providing employers with guidance and assistance in hiring and retaining Ohio workers with disabilities through accessibility services such as vocational rehabilitation and training

Veteran Program- ODOT supports the employment of veterans in the agency workforce.  We value the commitment, work ethic and experience veterans bring to the job, as well as their specialized skills and talents.

  • Ohio National Guard Prior Service Form
    Permanent employees who provide valid documentation (i.e., the Ohio National Guard Prior Service Form) shall receive credit for prior service with the Ohio National Guard for purposes of computing vacation leave.
  • CDL Test Waiver Form
    This form may be used by service members who are currently licensed and who are or were employed within the last year in a military position requiring the operation of a Military Motor Vehicle equivalent to a Commercial Motor Vehicle. This waiver allows a qualified service member to apply for a CDL without skills testing. CDL knowledge (written) test(s) cannot be waived.
