Hamilton County (Thursday,
September 19, 2019) - Following paving operations on
southbound I-71, contractors for the Ohio Department of
Transportation will impact traffic during the overnight hours
tomorrow, September 20, in preparation for Phase 3 of the
multi-year project.
Restrictions
will be in place on I-71 South between Kenwood Road and
Ridge Avenue from approximately 8 p.m. Friday to 6
a.m. Saturday, September 21, to switch traffic and remove
the southbound contraflow lane.
Then,
the following weekend, September 27-28, crews will add a contraflow
lane in the northbound direction between Ridge Avenue and Kenwood
Road. The contraflow lane will be accessible only from the Lateral or
SR 562 to I-71 North.
The
entire project calls for resurfacing, bridge deck replacement of the
Stewart Road bridge, and rehabilitating other bridges from the
railroad overpass north of SR 562/Norwood Lateral to SR 126/Ronald
Reagan Cross County Highway. The project also includes widening to
three, continuous through lanes between the Norwood Lateral and
Red Bank Expressway, removing the northbound Ridge Road exit and
adding an exit to Kennedy Avenue from northbound I-71.
The $36 million project is scheduled for completion
in the summer of 2021.
