Bridge, Culvert Rehab Projects Slated To Begin
In Preble County
Lebanon (Tuesday, January 28,
2020) – As part of an
estimated $34 million construction season in Preble County, construction will
get under way next month for two separate projects to rehabilitate bridges
and repair culverts on three routes in the county.
Construction is scheduled to begin the week of February 3 on U.S. Route 35 to reconstruct three
bridges located between Eaton and Preble-Montgomery County line. A culvert rehabilitation project is also scheduled to
begin in February, with contractors repairing or replacing culverts at
locations on Interstate 70, U.S. 35 and state Route 177.
The bridge rehabilitation
project on U.S. 35 includes full-depth pavement repair and resurfacing,
shoulder widening and guardrail replacement at structures located at the
Eaton corporation limit, Stover Road and County Line Road. construction, U.S. 35 traffic will be maintained with temporary signals; however, Stover and County Line roads will be subject to closure at various times during the project, and motorists will be detoured locally.
Along with this, a separate culvert repair project will take place on U.S. 35 at Crawfordsville-Campbellstown Road, as well as on S.R. 177 at Oxford-Germantown Road and on I-70 between the S.R. 726 and Monroe Central Road overpasses. Although traffic on the three routes will be maintained throughout most construction, U.S. 35 will be subject to short-term closure during the summer.
A
contract was awarded to Brumbaugh Construction for approximately $2.9 million
to rehab the U.S. 35 bridges, and Eclipse Company was awarded a $507,000
contract to repair the culverts on I-70, U.S. 35 and S.R. 177.
