Division of Planning
Jennifer Townley, Deputy Director

The Division of Planning collects data to help engineers and planners make the best decisions for the safety of pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers throughout Ohio; to ensure Ohio's natural and cultural resources are protected during construction projects; to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly; and to help Ohio drivers make up-to-the-minute decisions about routes to take or avoid depending on weather and traffic.

The Division of Planning administers several transportation funding programs while ensuring Ohio's taxpayers are getting the most from their transportation dollars. Planning staff are dedicated to assisting local governments, transportation advocacy groups, planning organizations, educators and Ohio's citizens in funding efforts.

The Division of Planning offers over 500 classes annually to consulants, contractors, local government and state agency staff. Subject matter experts teach a wide variety of topics from environmental compliance and proper roadway drainage to federal-aid project administration. Courses provide the transfer of new and emerging technologies along with qualification training, policy updates and best practices to improve everyday operations.
