Interstate 75 traffic switch scheduled

Interstate 75 traffic switch scheduled

Hamilton County (Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013) – As part of the improvements to the Interstate 75/Mitchell Avenue interchange, northbound I-75 traffic will be shifted to the west onto newly completed pavement.

Work to implement this traffic shift will require various lane and ramp closures on northbound Interstate 75, with possible traffic delays expected for northbound traffic.  The Ohio Department of Transportation recommends motorists seek an alternate route during the switch, which will take place from 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26 through 6 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28.

From 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26 to 5 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, the right lane of northbound Interstate 75 north of Mitchell Avenue (Exit 6) will be closed.

On Friday, Dec. 27, the left lane of northbound I-75 from I-74 to just north of Mitchell Avenue will be closed at 8 p.m., with a second lane closure at 11 p.m.  Both lanes will be open to traffic by 6 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28.

Also, the on-ramp from Mitchell Avenue to northbound I-75 will have various short-term, full closures between 12:01 and 6 a.m. Saturday.  The off-ramp from northbound I-75 to Mitchell Avenue will be closed from 12:01 a.m. Friday until 12:01 a.m. Saturday and a detour will be posted.

Arrow boards and signs are in place prior to the work zone to alert motorists of the upcoming lane and ramp closures.  To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone.
