North Bend Road Bridge replacement project to start

North Bend Road Bridge replacement scheduled to start

Hamilton County (Tuesday, April 12, 2016) – A project to replace the North Bend Road bridge over Interstate 74 is scheduled to start Monday, April 18. The bridge is located between West Fork and Boomer roads in Green Township. The bridge replacement is part of an I-74 rehabilitation project and includes resurfacing the pavement on I-74 and the ramps at this interchange. The contract will also repair a slope failure along the shoulder of the exit ramp from westbound I-74 to North Bend Road.

The $8.2 million project was awarded to the Sunesis Construction Company and is anticipated to be complete in fall of 2017.

Traffic will be maintained during construction using temporary roads, lane shifts and posted detours. Access will also be provided to the I-74 ramps and adjacent properties. The travelling public should expect delays in the area.

An local alternate route has been posted by the Hamilton County Engineer’s Office from North Bend Road to West Fork Road to Race Road to Boomer Road to North Bend Road and vice versa. A temporary traffic signal shall be provided at the Race Road and West Fork Road intersection.

Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place to alert motorists of the work zone and traffic restrictions.

To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone.
