Oasis Rail Transit Open Houses Scheduled
Public invited to weigh in on regional transit line
that has advanced through preliminary study
Offering a new transportation alternative to the Greater Cincinnati region that will help reduce dependence on car-based travel, Oasis Rail Transit is a commuter rail line that would transport residents, workers and visitors between downtown Cincinnati and the communities extending east through Hamilton County and into western Clermont County.
Oasis is a core component of the Eastern Corridor Program—a program of integrated, multi-modal transportation investments designed to improve mobility, ease congestion, increase access and support economic development between downtown Cincinnati and Clermont County.
WHAT
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is holding three Oasis Rail Transit Open Houses to share the results of studies that evaluate feasible alternatives for the rail project and potential options for implementation.
During previous community meetings held by ODOT, the public was able to review preliminary information related to proposed technology (trains), operation schedules, station locations, ridership and costs. That information has been updated based on current information and public input. ODOT is inviting public review and feedback on the results which will be documented as part of this phase of study. The Oasis project and the related plans have been developed through close coordination with local community, business and school representatives and other area stakeholders.

MEETING FORMAT & PUBLIC COMMENT
The Open Houses will be held at three different locations along the rail corridor, and content for each will be the same. Community members are invited to visit the location most convenient for them at any point during the scheduled timeframe to review project information and talk one-to-one with project team representatives.
Community members are also invited to submit written comments at the Open Houses or during the following 14-day public comment period. Comment forms will be provided at the Open House and posted online.
Those who cannot attend one of the Open Houses can review the meeting materials and comment online beginning February 24. All meeting materials will be posted on the Oasis Rail Transit Public Involvement page of the Eastern Corridor website at www.EasternCorridor.org.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The proposed Oasis Rail Transit corridor extends roughly 17 miles between downtown Cincinnati’s Riverfront Transit Center (under Second Street) and I-275 in Milford. Much of its alignment would use publicly-owned rail right-of-way and could use existing freight lines. In other places, new tracks will be built to complete the necessary connections.
The proposed Oasis Rail line supports transit, bicycle and pedestrian travel and reduces reliance on cars as a primary mode of local transportation. It would also help stimulate community enhancement, revitalization and economic growth opportunities through ongoing service and Transit-Oriented Developments (TODs), which are walkable, mixed-used community spaces that typically include office, retail, residential and social gathering facilities.
The purpose of the Oasis Rail Transit project is to:
- Improve regional connectivity
- Increase mobility for everyone – drivers and non-drivers alike
- Connect people to jobs, regional attractions and major recreational destinations
- Support neighborhood development and revitalization
- Expand travel options by coordinating with transit and other active-transportation modes such as bicycling and walking
- Reduce the demand for new road capacity while providing a new way to meet future travel demand
- Link to and support the Eastern Corridor’s multi-modal transportation vision and land
use plan
