Two sections of Jeremiah Morrow Bridge demolished
Warren County (Sunday, May 11, 2014) – With the push of a button, State Rep. Ron Maag assisted in bringing down two sections of the original northbound Interstate 71/Jeremiah Morrow Bridge at 7 a.m. Sunday, May 11.
Video of the demolition is available at this link: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=527787957330559&set=vb.110034165772609&type=2&theater
Earlier this year, construction personnel and equipment dismantled the section of bridge that spans the Little Miami State and National Scenic River; the two remaining sections of the northbound structure will be demolished at a future date.
The work is part of the ongoing project to construct two new structures – the state of Ohio’s tallest - on Interstate 71 over the Little Miami River. The first structure, which is currently carrying northbound I-71, opened to traffic in November 2013.
After demolition of the original northbound span is complete, construction will continue on the second Jeremiah Morrow structure with completion anticipated for September 2016.
