3. Data-Driven Program
ODOT uses a data-driven approach for SRTS. There are three key data components for plan development. First, student location maps determine the percentage of students who live within a two-mile radius of the school. Second, bicycle and pedestrian crash information helps identify potential locations for safety improvements. Finally, priority corridors are developed using a combination of mapping software and information collected on walk audits. The priority corridors are part of a map-based informational brochure for parents and other caregivers.
