Soils Laboratory Section

About our Section:
The Laboratory Section consists of Geotechnical laboratory technicians, under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.

The laboratory technicians test the samples collected by ODOT's Geotechnical Drilling Crews according to the Specifications for Subsurface Investigations.  The laboratory is certified by AMRL to conduct the full range of index, and undisturbed strength testing on soil samples.  The data generated in this testing is used in design of roadways, structures, and geohazard remediations, and is included in Soil Profiles and Structure Foundation Investigations appended to ODOT Project Plans.

The section also maintains an archive of historic Geotechnical data as a valuable resource in the planning of current projects.
